RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) — A company is set to expand operations in Rantoul after closing an out-of-state plant.

In a news release, door and window company JELD-WEN announced Thursday it is closing its Hawkins, Wisconsin plant and consolidating the wood windows manufacturing to its Rantoul site.

The Hawkins site has around 340 employees. The company estimates consolidation into the Rantoul facility will cost about $24 million.

Announced in the same release was closing a California job site. The news releases describes the closures as “a further step in JELD-WEN’s transformation journey to strengthen the foundation of the company and position itself for long term, profitable growth.”
