OCC is offering training in manufacturing areas, in a new program that offers a paid apprenticeship with benefits and pay increases. The information session is Tuesday evening.

Students can get paid, while they train for jobs in the manufacturing sector, under a new program starting up at Onondaga Community College.

First step : attend Tuesday evening information program on the Apprenticeship Accelerator Career Training program, which has information on the 10 week course on positions including Tool Maker, Maintenance Mechanic, CNC Machinist and Machinist. The information session is at OCC's Coulter Hall, room C116 on Tuesday (Feb 20) from 6-9pm. Signup at www.aactjobs.com

There's a 10-week course, on the OCC campus, and successful participants will do a 4-year apprenticeship at Syracuse's Killian Manufacturing, Rome's Bartell Manufacturing, Liverpool's Precision Systems Manufacturing or Stickley in Manlius. Mike Metzger, OCC's Associate Vice President of Economic & Workforce Development, says financial help is available on the coursework, and the apprenticeships include benefits and built-in pay increases.
