The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Thursday criticised the decision of the Supreme Court to ban firecrackers in the national capital and urged that the court to review its decision.

RSS leader Indresh Kumar said the top court with its decision has left number of workers manufacturing and selling the firecrackers unemployed.

"The Supreme Court with its decision has made number of poor across the national unemployed. I think a proper discussion is needed on this issue. The court passed out a verdict without a proper discussion on the same, which is incorrect. They should review this matter," Indresh told ANI.

The apex court had on October 9 imposed a blanket ban on sale of firecrackers in the Delhi-NCR in the run-up of Diwali to check the alarming pollution level.

A three-judge bench of the apex court had restored its November 2016 order, banning sale of crackers in NCR and suspended its September 2017 order - which allowed limited sale but banned imports from other states. (ANI)
