Pioneer Corporation to start in-car product manufacturing in India by 2026
The Japanese firm views the Indian market as a key driver for its long-term global growth and seeks to expand its presence in the rapidly growing Indian automotive market.
This move follows the establishment of a Pioneer R&D centre in India in 2023 and is part of the company's strategy to become a global solutions provider in mobility experiences. The Japanese firm views the Indian market as a key driver for its long-term global growth.
The company will collaborate with local contractors for manufacturing, creating an end-to-end value chain in India encompassing R&D, sales, manufacturing, and post-delivery support. This initiative aligns with the Indian government's 'Make in India' programme and Pioneer's global strategy to enhance mobility experiences.
Starting with the production of display audio products
Local production will begin with display audio products, with potential expansion to other in-car products for both factory installation and retail channels. The company anticipates improved responsiveness to local needs, reduced delivery times, and enhanced after-sales service.
Pioneer's transition to a solutions company involves various strategic steps, including recruiting external executives and establishing R&D facilities in India and Germany.
“We are excited to start the manufacture of in-car products in India. The shift to local production will enable us to better serve local automakers close to their home turf. It is a huge step forward for Pioneer to become one of the key players in the fast-growing Indian auto industry and to drive the growth of our global business in the long term," said Shiro Yahara, president and CEO of Pioneer Corporation.
Aniket Kulkarni, managing director of Pioneer India Electronics Private Ltd., reinforced the company's dedication to the Indian market and its customers. Pioneer's strategy focuses on meeting the evolving needs of Indian automotive customers through a wider range of products and services.
