Nebraska softball ties multiple program records after hitting 6 home runs in a single game against Iowa

After Nebraska softball defeated Iowa on Friday, the Huskers returned to the mound for a historic day.

The team tied multiple school records as they claimed a 14-1 victory in five innings on Saturday.
Samantha Bland blasted a solo home run in the top of the first to get the Huskers on the board.
The Hawkeyes retaliated to tie things up at one apiece in the bottom of the first.
Lauren Camenzind notched a solo homer to take the lead for the Huskers in the top of the second.
Jordy Bahl walked before Bland hit her second homer of the day to double Nebraska's score.
Bella Bacon hit a three-run homer in the top of the third, bringing herself, Kacie Hoffmann, and Kennadi Williams home.
Bland returned to hit another home run in the top of the fourth to make it 8-1 for the Huskers.
Olivia DiNardo made it on base just before Ava Kuszak claimed her 14th homer of the year to score them both.
In the top of the fifth, Bacon doubled which was followed by Lauren's walk. Bahl then doubled to score Bacon. Bland's sacrifice fly scored Lauren.
Hannah Camenzind got to first after being struck by a pitch, and then DiNardo doubled again to score both Bahl and Hannah.
Nebraska defeated Iowa 14-1.
The team tied Nebraska's record for the most home runs in a game, which was set in 1996 against Creighton.
The six homers against Iowa bumped the Huskers up to 76 for the season which tied the most home runs in a season for the program.
Bland's three home runs tied the program's most home runs in a game, and she became the second Husker to make it to three in a game and fourth in school history.
The two teams will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m.
