As indicated by WHO Global Ambient Air Quality Database update in 2018, covering more than 4,000 cities in 108 countries, over 80% of people living in urban areas are exposed to air quality levels exceed WHO air quality guidelines (>10 μg/m3 for PM2.5). Nearly 90% of air-pollution-related deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, especially in South-East Asia and Western Pacific regions.
